The Marlin Capital of New Zealand. Boat charters available for game fishing or bottom fishing. Some of the best diving in the South Pacific including the Cavalli Islands where the well-known Rainbow Warrior was sunk to form a spectacular under-water reef.
Saint Paul's volcanic dome is a short distance behind Whangaroa Luxury Stay. There are many other native bush walks in the area including Lane Cove from Totara North which takes you to the Duke's Nose — all having fantastic views over the Whangaroa Harbour. There is also the Puketi Kauri Forest with ancient kauri trees to visit.
Book a Harbour Cruise to visit the many bays of Whangaroa Harbour or have a meal and enjoy a cold beer at popular Kingfish Lodge. The water taxi is available for sightseeing or a trip to Kingfish Lodge.
The world-famous Mangonui Fish and Chip Shop which sits out over the water is a short drive away. There are also craft shops and cafés in Mangonui — well worth a visit. Kerikeri town is half an hour's drive away. Here you will find a wide selection of shops, restaurants and cafés.
The Northland coastline has some of the most beautiful beaches in New Zealand. Whether you are swimming, snorkeling, boating, having a picnic or just walking along the white sandy beaches, this is one of the highlights of your stay. Some of the beaches include Tauranga Bay, Taupo Bay, Matauri Bay, the many stunning beaches in Doubtless Bay and of course Ninety Mile Beach.
